Brass Turtle Candlesticks
On one of their many trips abroad after they were married, Lord and Lady Kerfuffle & Swish ventured out to Borneo to see some of the native wildlife. One of their favourite excursions was to Turtle Island. When they were able to scrape themselves out of bed, at some ungodly hour, they were able to watch the sea turtles come up onto the beach, build their nests, lay their eggs and then cover them over again to protect them. Every now and then a little head and fins would scrabble out of the sand and hurry down the beach towards the water. These baby turtles hatched from their eggs laid months before and it was an utter joy to watch them take their first swim. The hatchlings wouldn’t see land again for 25 years when they came to lay their own eggs, so Kerfuffle & Swish felt honoured to see this stunning natural sight.
When they were back in the UK on one of their camper van trips, they came across this pair of candlesticks in a little antique shop. It brought back such fond memories that they bought them straight away and kept them in a prominent place at home to remind them of their shared experiences.
